Will I have permanent stains on my teeth?

I have braces and have for a year now. I clean my teeth more than someone who doesn%26#039;t have braces would, I%26#039;ve noticed that my friends who have braces don%26#039;t brush their teeth, they have food all around their brackets and it looks discusting. Me on the other hand is nothing like that. You can%26#039;t see a spot on my teeth unless you really look. The problem is I eat alot of junk, but brush my teeth alot. My friends eat junk too do you think I am doing well or what?? Will I have perminent stains on my teeth if I keep doing what I am doing??

You are doing all the right things. The major concern with braces isn%26#039;t so much stain, but decay. Anything that stains the teeth such as coffee, nicotine, etc. can be removed with a dental cleaning because it is only on the surface. However, if food stays around the brackets for a while, acids will build up and cause decay to the area. You have to be careful with this because if there is even a tiny cavity near the bracket, you can be sure it will spread under it if not taken care of quickly. Also, food buildup can cause gingivitis under the gums that can lead to periodontal disease which is more serious as it causes bone loss an loose teeth. You said your friends had food buildup around their braces. Next time notice if their gums are really red. That is a warning sign! Healthy gums are pink-not red and puffy. Hope this helps!
Reply:Stains from brushing too much? Doubtful. Keep your teeth clean, and you%26#039;ll be fine. Just be careful not to brush too hard or you%26#039;ll brush the enamel off.

Reply:i take of my teeth also i brush twice a day and most of the time after i eat and still ive notice a spot or two like you have really for as much as i brush i still cant get all the spots i need to clean maybe you just cant get the spot because of the braces and it is possible you might have the stain but if it isnt really that big like you say im sure no one will notice it all if it stays
