My 8yr broke off one of her permanent front teeth. It keeps falling off, what can we do?

The dentist he cannot do a permanent crown until she is much older and all we can do is keep fixing it. It has now falling off 2 times inside a month, shouldn%26#039;t it last longer?

Are they able to bond it? My sister did the same thing as a child---she fell and broke off BOTH her permanent front teeth. The dentist bonded them and they lasted for about 10 years and then one of them had to be re-bonded. Only one of them fell off once. Check to see if there is enough of a tooth to get it bonded; if he cemented it on, it will just keep falling off. Good luck!
Reply:I broke my front tooth also. My dentist used a bonding compound to fix it. Unfortunately, if I am not careful, the bonding comes off. After going through many repairs, I decided to have a crown made for that tooth.

I would think you%26#039;d have to follow the advice of your dentist. You must tell your daughter to be extra careful when biting into something. It%26#039;s a pain in the neck to keep fixing it, but she has to understand that in order to keep her bonding secure, she%26#039;ll have to bite on the side of mouth instead of using her front teeth. This should help immensely. Good luck! I really feel for your daughter.
Reply:My grandson did that as well.

That was over 12 months ago and the bonded tooth hasn%26#039;t fallen off at all in that time.

I would suggest seeing a different dentist as the one you are seeing seems to be capitalising on the problem and it will also affect the integrity of the tooth as she gets older.
Reply:it should last longer, depending on the surfaces that need to be bonded.

however, once it has had glue applied, you%26#039;re probably stuck.

(or unstickable in this case.)

there will be remnants of the glue on both surfaces that will make it very hard to get a good fit.

i%26#039;m sorry, but i think it%26#039;s not fixable.

but surely i%26#039;m not a dentist, and there may be things they can do that i don%26#039;t realize. good luck.
Reply:Either find a dentist that can get a better bonding agent ( I had the same problem and a new bond was used sucessfully) or cross apples and corn-on-the-cob off your shopping list. How did your daughters softball pitching go?
