Childrens teeth?

my 6yr old grandson has what looks like his permanent tooth on the bottom coming in right behind his baby tooth, problem is the baby tooth is not at all loose nor near readiness to come out yet.

of course we will see the dentist this monday, today is saturday. we just noticed it today.

will they have to pull out one or more of these bottom teeth to enable this other new tooth to move in the right spot?

Childrens teeth?
If the permanent tooth doesn%26#039;t come up directly below the baby tooth, the baby tooth root may not dissolve the way it should to become loose and fall out. If the baby tooth doesn%26#039;t get loose, it may have to be extracted. Depending on your dentist, he may wait a while to see if it loosens on it%26#039;s own or go ahead and get it out of the way. Most likely the permanent tooth already isn%26#039;t in the right spot or it wouldn%26#039;t be behind the baby tooth. Could be an indication of future braces! This isn%26#039;t terribly uncommon and not reason for huge alarm. Good for you getting him to a dentist as soon as you noticed a problem! He%26#039;ll do fine and may get to bring home a tooth to put under his pillow! Good luck
Reply:Not necessarily. Often in this case the baby tooth falls out normally and the pressure from the tongue eases the adult tooth into position. If it%26#039;s really far back and doesn%26#039;t seem to be resorbing the baby tooth (ie it%26#039;s not getting loose) sometimes we %26#039;help it on it%26#039;s way%26#039; and remove the baby tooth for the fairies! Often we watch and see for a while and then decide. Good luck x
