If a permanent tooth is coming in behind the baby tooth, should you have a dentist take out the baby tooth?

my child has a permanent tooth coming in behind her baby tooth. she is 6 yrs. old and hasnt lost any of her baby teeth yet. her permanent tooth is coming in behind the baby tooth which is loose but hasnt came out yet. should i have a dentist pull the baby tooth? or just wait and let it come out on its on?

If a permanent tooth is coming in behind the baby tooth, should you have a dentist take out the baby tooth?
The baby tooth should be out before the permanent tooth comes in. Get your dentist%26#039;s opinion asap, although I%26#039;m sure he%26#039;s going to recommend to remove the baby tooth (which should take about 2 seconds without any anesthesia).
Reply:If your daughter has never been to the dentist, this is probably not the time to take her. A more relaxed time is better for a first visit.

The baby tooth will likely come out on it%26#039;s own.

If the permanent tooth doesn%26#039;t push out the baby tooth, then you%26#039;ll need a dentist.

Good luck.
Reply:If the baby tooth is loose, then continue working to get it out. Is just one or both of the permanent teeth visible? Most often removing one baby tooth will not allow the front lower incisors to position correctly and you may have to remove both baby teeth in the front or sometimes all 4 front baby teeth. If braces are something that you are considering then let the teeth do as they may as braces can correct the problem later. Good Luck with this growing up dilemma.
Reply:If you are worried about it ask them what to do. That has happened to me with the permenant tooth almost grown in all the way. It came out on its own. If it is bothering her ask the dentist.

Good Luck

Hope you child looses the tooth.!
Reply:Take her to the dentist and let him decide. My daughter had her permanent tooth coming in behind the baby teeth. Since the baby teeth were there the permanent tooth was coming in further back than it should have. The dentist had to pull 3 teeth since they were all in the way. When he took them out there were no more roots, you know when you see x-rays how you see that long part into the gums. Well they were gone, I guess because she was ready to loose those teeth. Because the permanent tooth was coming in further back she had to have an appliance (like a retainer) to push that tooth forward. I guess if you wait too long the tooth might be too far back and be more of a problem. By the way my daughter got Novocaine for the extraction, but was in no pain after, as a matter of fact about 2-3 hours later she was eating a regular dinner, no soft foods, but regular food.
